Crinan Canal Ardrishaig |
The Crinan Canal's starting point is here in Ardrishaig. After lock 1 basin and several more locks the canal runs parallel to the shores of Loch Gilp. It then borders the west side of Lochgilphead before meandering across the peninsula.
The Crinan Canal is a fine example of engineering and is still used a great deal by both yachts and fishing boats crossing from Loch Gilp, on the east of the Kintyre peninsula, to the Atlantic ocean on the west coast of Scotland.
